Overview
T-GRID as an underlying framework forms the basis for all T-GRID family products. It has been designed specifically for companies with more complex environments.
Major aspects
- Modular structure
- Intelligent agents
- High security
- Simple installation and configuration
- Open architecture and integration capability
Modular structure
All framework functions are pooled into components and collaborate internally via a queue mechanism (publish/subscribe). This enables flexible maintenance with simple upgrade paths and increases stability at the same time. As a main process the bus component starts and supervises all other required components after queue allocation. Every system can be easily integrated into the grid via an agent. These agents connect via a communication component that is connected with the other components via a queue mechanism. This functionality is provided by thematically pooled services. The pooled, service based functionality structure represents a state-of-the-art modular architecture, thus being equally maintenance friendly and flexible to enhance.
Intelligent agents
The framework features an agent-based design. That means: other systems are implemented into the GRID via agents. Compared to other agent-based solutions, the T-GRID agents are very "intelligent" as every agent can make individual decisions. Agents decide, based on their configuration, on whom they will receive tasks from and whom they will give tasks to. In addition, they decide on when a task has to be aborted and which services are to be provided.
High security
The Framework must be applicable in environments with highest security requirements.
Multiple mechanisms have been implemented for this reason:
- On the one hand, logon is role-based. Elements of one role can be made available to other roles for read-only utilisation (selective inheritance)
- Agents authenticate via PKI certificates. Thus unauthorised participants are refused access to the grid. In addition, this mechanism enables the separation of different environments within the enterprise (zoning)
- The communication between the agents is encrypted and thus confidential. The receiving agent decides, based on access lists, which communication it will or will not receive
- Eventually, the integration of additional safety measures with the executing service is possible at any time.
In order to meet the highest safety requirements, the framework integrates more than 4 layers of overlapping safety mechanisms.
Simple installation and configuration
A system is set up and configured within minutes. Forming a part of one or multiple zones, it is operational immediately thereafter. If no established software deployment system is available, from this point in time the framework can deploy and configure itself via the installed agents.
No installations on the user work stations are required as the framework, as a server component, is operated exclusively via the browser.
Compared to other enterprise tools, T-GRID can be easily implemented and offers efficient maintenance.
Open architecture and integration capability
The Framework structure, security and handling function not only within the solution. They offer additional integration options with other existing tools. A scheduler can be implemented via a command line interface. An API (Application Programming Interface) for easy association of many framework elements with other tools is available to enable the implementation of individual functions.
